About this experience

For those of you who would like to read more about the route, pretty local names & places to pause...we've added TOUR descriptions...if it’s not your thing...feel free to skim read THE NEED TO KNOW details, or skip to the end to end to read about your HOST.

THE NEED TO KNOW

•27 miles; 3hr Adventurous Hilly Ride (time dependant on group pace and length of Pit Stop if taken).

•Please also allow up to an extra 30 minutes for all Riders to set up before the Tour & return equipment at the end of the Tour, and additional time for optional stops.

•This tour is NOT FOR BEGINNERS; yes, you've got the added bonus of extra pedal power but it's still more of a Challenging and Technical Adventure Ride with 5x considerable climbs, and a minimum of 3x long descents. Oh...and a fairly short but bumpy section of Off Road Terrain. Well it is a little more adventurous! But if it swings it in your favour...you can stop for ice cream.

•Meet in the Village of Braunton; Main Village Pay & Display Car Park (Overflow Area by the River Caen).

•Please bring coins for car parking if travelling by car.

•All Tours allow time first for everyone to have their Bike & Helmets fitted and adjusted and a quick chat about the Bikes Features, Keeping Safe, and of course, Bike Etiquette!

PLEASE BE AWARE that whilst we have tried to keep these to a minimum there is occasionally a main road to cross over, and/or to very briefly cycle on to access the start of the lanes in a couple of places; if it's more than this we will make it clear in our descriptions so you can decide if it's for you! The more challenging the Tour it’s possible there’s a little more road work involved for access, so if you're unsure please read the descriptions.

THE TOUR

Heading out through the village and quickly amongst the countryside before disappearing deeper into our country lanes in and around the scenic wooded valleys of a neighbouring parish.  If the next undulating climb doesn't take your breath away, then the stunning stretch of Wind Turbines set amongst the green rolling hills of Devon should do it!  You'll experience undulating valleys with a fun mini roller coaster like descent at Snowball Wood, a stiff (steep), hairpin climb and pass through some picturesque villages.  (Please note this Tour does duck in and out of the lanes to cross the main road in places and does include a winding cycle on a lovely, but busy in holidays, small road/large lane, but is worth the stunning views to come).  Morte Point's coastal headland with its dramatic cliffs and rich history in smuggling and shipwrecks, can be seen before travelling along the coastline esplanade with its semi-hidden bays.  You will then cycle just the very bottom snippet of the start of our infamous Challacombe Hill (one of our steepest, longest hills!).  Not for the faint hearted, so you’ll be glad to hear you will be cycling along the top of the beautiful dunes instead…overlooking the sea and taking a Pit Stop, if your group wishes, to buy yourself a refreshing beverage, or local ice cream, at little local hidden gem of a takeaway.

Pushing the limits of our e-bikes capability with a change of terrain, fairly short but challenging, until you are gazing across the next stunning landscape.  Splashing through a couple of small picturesque Fords, and meandering down through tranquil woods, with a final valley climb up through open countryside, and a cycle along the canopied trees of Buttercombe guiding the descent back to Braunton.

OPTIONAL ON THE DAY

If the group would like, the tour can make an optional stop at a small local place we know of overlooking the sea to take a pit stop. Maybe buy yourself a refreshing beverage or a local ice cream at little local hidden gem of a takeaway. This may add additional time on to your Tour depending on your Group's pace, so please make sure you have enough car parking if you have paid to park in the car park.

THE END?

Hopefully not! We hope this Tour will give you a taste of electric bikes and your cycling skills...you might even think about trying out some of our other Tours.  Maybe think about it over that post cycle G&T?

Your Host

Host image

Rob will be your main host during cycling, I will also join tours where I can and help with transporting bikes. Rob is a very experienced, confident cyclist having done lots of road cycling, mountain bike cycling, e-biking, sportief's etc., and he knows the North Devon lanes well. He's calm under pressure, decent at first aid (though hopefully none will be needed!), and knows his bike maintenance and repair stuff...so you're in good hands...
